March, lunar codex, moon puns

The acacia is in full bloom today. I’ve learned to mark the start of summer (and the month of March) by the light pink flowers that cover the sprawling canopy of one acacia tree that’s visible from my balcony. I didn’t notice this before the pandemic. Being stuck at home forced me to look and pay attention. I’ve seen the cycles of blooming, withering and regrowth of the acacias in 3 yrs in a row. Everything is vivid in my mind now.

Before March ends, I want to write about one morning I was happy. I was having breakfast with my mother at Diliman and my uncle told us his work got into the polaris collection of the lunar codex. That’s cool and all that, but the subsequent family group chat that descended into pun chaos was pure happiness. I think we laughed for 30 mins straight. Everyone contributed to the mess. Uncle could have been a stand up comedian in another life – his lightning wit is impressive.
